manja daybed // 2014 // not in production, seeking manufacturer // this design is based on a traditional daybed found in the villages of Punjab. the mattress is replaced by the continuous diagonal weaving using organic and natural hemp. the cushion is replaced using a gentle dip in the diagonal weaving owing to the difference in elevations of the steel members that support the weaving. the weaving takes on the shape of the body while supporting its weight, making it naturally chiropractic. the removal of excess material makes it sustainable, and minimal.
